Zanzibar Health Insurance Scheme Priority Setting Initiative

Project Objectives

  • Develop evidence-based essential health service packages for Zanzibar Health Insurance Scheme aligned with the archipelago’s unique island context and tourism economy
  • Evaluate cost-effectiveness and equity impact of health interventions across Zanzibar’s two main islands (Unguja and Pemba) and smaller islets
  • Strengthen health system capacity for priority setting and resource allocation in the context of semi-autonomous governance within the United Republic of Tanzania
  • Support the Ministry of Health in developing sustainable health financing mechanisms that address the needs of both resident population and seasonal tourism workers
