  • Strengthen Malawi’s National Health Service through evidence-based priority setting and essential health package optimization across 28 districts and 3 regions
  • Evaluate cost-effectiveness and equity impact of health interventions across Malawi’s diverse geographic contexts, from Lake Malawi shores to highland areas
  • Support the Ministry of Health in developing sustainable health financing mechanisms within the context of the Essential Health Package and Sector Wide Approach
  • Build institutional capacity for health technology assessment and priority setting within Malawi’s centralized health system and resource-constrained environment

Phase 2: Evidence Generation
Systematic review of cost-effectiveness evidence, local adaptation of intervention parameters, and modeling of Essential Health Package scenarios using FairChoices tool across diverse geographic contexts.
Phase 3: Stakeholder Consultation
Multi-stakeholder engagement with Ministry of Health, district health offices, healthcare providers, and community representatives to validate priority setting recommendations within resource-constrained context.
Phase 4: Implementation Planning
Development of implementation roadmap, capacity building programs, and monitoring frameworks for Essential Health Package optimization across Malawi’s 28 districts within Sector Wide Approach framework.
